Nothing will Separate You!

When Jesus Christ was dying on the cross, He cried out, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?” (Matthew 27:46)

How could He be forsaken?

First, remember this: He was dying in our place. He became sin for us and placed Himself at the center of judgment. And separation from God is part of judgment. In that moment, He bore fully and completely, what separation feels like.

But there is another reason, and it is breathtaking.

It is a holy paradox.

The One crying, “My God, why have You forsaken Me?” is God Himself. God is asking God why God has forsaken Him. The One speaking those words is Emmanuel, “God with us.” So the One asking why God is not with Him… is God with us.

Here is what this means for us:

When you enter the darkest moments of your life…
When you feel abandoned…
When heaven feels silent…
When you cry out, “My God, why have You forsaken me?”

You are not alone.

God is not standing at a distance.
He is not merely watching.
He is with you, inside that cry.

The same God who once spoke those words on the cross speaks them with you now. When you feel far from God, God is there feeling that distance with you. When you feel hopelessly separated, God chooses to stand in that separation with you.

And here is the stunning truth: Even if it were possible for you to be forsaken by God, God would choose to be forsaken with you, so that you never truly are.

That is why Scripture declares that nothing, not in this world or the next, not in this age or the age to come, can ever separate us from the love of God (see Romans 8).

So, remember the moments when you felt farthest from Him.
Now ponder this: He was there, feeling just as far away with you.

TODAY:
Let this settle deep in your soul: Nothing will ever separate you from His love. Because Emmanuel, God with us, always is.
