Every Sabbath, on Shabbat, from ancient times, the Jewish people gather in their synagogues, open the scrolls, and read the ancient Scriptures. Thus, on every Sabbath day there is a specific portion of Scripture appointed to be read in synagogues all over the world. The portion is called the PARASHA and this reading schedule was appointed in ages past for every week and every Sabbath day of history into modern times.
When Jesus read in the synagogue at Nazareth as a guest, He did not arbitrarily pick the scroll or passage. It was the parsha… a pre-chosen passage that was being read in synagogues all over the world. They handed Him the scroll from Isaiah 61:1-2 and He read a prophetic portion concerning the messiah:
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,”
When he finished, he closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And then declared “this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” (Luke 4:21)
Only God could have orchestrated that Jesus, the Messiah, who fulfilled Isaiah 61, would be invited to read on the exact day that synagogues all over the world where reading Isaiah’s prophecy concerning Him.
In God there are NO coincidences, only divine orchestrations!!!
